In 2005 the Association made some significant changes to the structure of its direct services to young people.
Housing Management Services had traditionally been our focus, but with the ever increasing opportunities to diversify and expand support in areas of training, motivation and residents’ engagement, it was natural to establish a new department.
Young People’s Services was established to cover specialisms that had been to some extent taken for granted, or hidden behind housing management services. To enrich young people’s lives as they strive for independence requires significant energy, creativity and some risk taking, and the Association, in order to celebrate its achievements in this area and to expand decided to establish, Young People’s Service. This area of our work covers, the Floating Support Service, a one to one provision with very specific intentions to ensure that individual young people remain fully connected to the Association.
The Energy Team’s work covers a range of complimentary services such as, safeguarding for young people, corporate induction, move-on and resettlement, training and employment with specific focus on those who are classified as Not Engaged in Employment and Training (NEET). Food and Nutrition is also covered alongside a range of motivational, life and social skill building group sessions. All these activities are designed with one purpose, to enhance individual young people’s support planning. In addition the innovative and creative work of our Speak Out Strategy is covered within this department. This is all the work of our Resident Representatives and Residents’ Panel. Encouraging young people to ‘Speak Out’ about the services they receive both internally and externally by the Association’s Board and Executive team.
