THE SPEAK EZY'S
introduction

The Resident Rep Team manage THREE Speak Ezy Venues which are premises that the Association rent which are

Wirral

Sefton

Ellesmere Port

These are kitted out following consultation with our young people and are multifunctional being able to hold sit down sessions, meetings, cooking, celebrations, external visits/ speakers and have a variety of sessions held there on a day to day basis.

The Speak Ezy idea originated in 2003, during the time of the Resident Rep Team appointment. The Speak Ezys were established to give young people in Forum the space to be themselves on neutral grounds in venues which young people have designed to meet their needs and aspirations.

The Wirral Speak Ezy was the first one to be opened but before then we used a small area within the Market Wells Foyer which was the space where the creation of the Speak Ezy happened.

The unique thing about our Speak Ezys is that our young people run them, decide what they look like and what happens in them and young people have also run their own peer led sessions in there. This has not only enhanced engagement but has given our residents REAL ownership of something that is theirs.  There hasn’t been a single repair required due of vandalism or replacement due to criminal damage because of the sense of community and ownership that residents share for their venues.
