On Thursday 18th July, Forum Housing Association was presented by the Housing Diversity Network (HDN) with the Diversity Network Accreditation Award (DNA).
This award represents the excellent practice Forum delivers in relation to Equality and Diversity.
A review was undertaken by an assessor from the HDN on a number of documents the Association uses to promote, monitor and evaluate Equality and Diversity within the organisation. After this, the assessor arranged for a site visit and carried out a number of one-to-one interviews with staff and two focus groups, the purpose of this, to assess fully the Association’s commitment to Equality and Diversity.
Business Development Manager, Andrew Petrie from HDN commented
“This Diversity Network Accreditation is recognition of some of the great work that Forum is doing. The assessor from Housing Diversity Network was very impressed overall with the Forum approach to equality and diversity and the way that there was such a visible culture of diversity in the organisation with strong leadership and structures in place to support it. This focus ensured it filtered throughout the organisation and brought to life the mission and values of Forum Housing Association.”
Not only have Forum achieved this accreditation but have passed with flying colours and have received distinctions in the following eight areas of work Coaching, Charity Shop, Engaging with Young People, Equality and Diversity Training Booklet, Identification of Mental Health Needs, Learning Programme, Managing Money Booklet and Working with Shareholders on Equalities.
This is a fantastic achievement for Forum and demonstrates just how committed to Equality and Diversity they are, not only have they received distinctions but have also been recommended to be used as a ‘best practice organisation’ with HDN .
Chairman for Forum Housing Association, Mrs Sue Elliott commented
“I am so delighted that Forum’s commitment to Equality and Diversity has been recognised with such a prestigious award. It has also been an excellent experience working alongside the Equality and Diversity Network. Our total commitment to inclusion is embedded throughout every aspect of our work and we are proud to receive eight distinctions which also demonstrates our continuing Mission ‘It’s All About You’ – the residents, the staff, the stakeholders, the community.”
