Additional Support Services

The Association, in recognition of the diverse needs and additional support requirements of its young people, has made the following provision under the Additional Services.

Floating Support Service

The Floating Support Team work specifically with young people who are experiencing greater support requirements that exceed the standard provision of support. The greater support requirements are usually impacting on their ability to cope and sustain their accommodation for a whole range of reasons and therefore require extra support.

The service differentiates from the accommodation services and ensures that when no longer required, the service is “floated “ off to another person who needs it.

Referrals to the service are identified by the young person and project staff following review, and will be identified in the young person's support plan.

Statutory Contracts

If, following assessment, a young person's support needs are found to be in excess of that covered by core funding, then provision of extra support can be provided through statutory funding.

Sefton Leaving Care Team

The Association has a service level agreement with Sefton Borough Council – Social Service, to deliver support to care leavers. The outreach workers work with 14-25 year olds who are in care or who have left care, assisting in their transition to independence. The team assist the young people to find and maintain suitable accommodation, they also offer support within their home, teaching life skills and promoting independent living, whilst seeking to build the young person's confidence and self-esteem.

Referral to the scheme is through the Sefton Social Services' Leaving Care Team.
