Volunteering for Nightstop
In order to offer services to vulnerable young people, we rely on recruitment of volunteer hosts in Chester, Ellesmere Port, Crewe & Nantwich, Macclesfield, Winsford & Northwich areas. In 2009 we recruited 20 households but urgently need more to meet the high level of demand.
Our hosts provide:
* A safe place to stay for 1 – 3 nights
* Evening meal & breakfast
* A listening ear
Hosts are not expected to care for young people during the day. Young people normally have appointments with housing teams in the day, are in education, or can see family/ friends. Arrival times are flexible and they leave in the morning at a time suitable for their hosts. Who can be a host?
* You can be single, a couple, have own children, pets, and aged 25 to 80+!
* Have a suitably furnished spare room
* Have time to give and support a young person (there is no minimum commitment and you host whenever you are free)
* Are willing to undergo training and supervision
(We are also looking for volunteer drivers to take young people to and from our accommodation and to interviews with housing teams etc)
“How anyone could have asked any of these young people to leave home I don’t know, they have all been lovely”
